 ABOUT US

Pendleton's Harvest Moon Farm, LLC began raising Katahdin and Dorper sheep in 2016. We are a family owned and operated business focused on the sustainable production of quality, pasture-raised lamb and breeding stock.
Our farm is located on the North Fork of Long Island.
We pasture our sheep from early spring when the lambs are born through late fall when the lambs are ready for market. Our overwintering animals are supplemented with locally produced hay and grain.

OUR SHEEP

We have a growing flock of both Katahdin and blackheaded Dorper sheep. Katahdins were developed in Maine in the 1950s. They were bred as a variety of meat sheep that did not require shearing. Dorpers are also a hair sheep variety that do not require shearing. This breed is native to South Africa and produces a heavier animal than the Katahdins. Both types of sheep are well known for the quality of the meat they provide.

OUR DOGS

We would be nowhere without Tilly - our main sheep dog. She is a McNab Shepherd and she works our sheep with speed, agility, and wisdom. We also recently added an English Shepherd named Maggie to our family. She is just starting to learn how to work sheep (we hope), so, in the meantime, she is getting her fill of snuggles and mischief.
